Yokei Mizuno

Yokei Mizuno was born in 1956 into a family that created ceramic art in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture. Tokoname is Japan’s center of creating teapots, where ceramic artists have created teapots since the 18th century. Graduating from Seto Ceramic High School in 1976, Mizuno served an apprenticeship under his father and then started his career as a potter specializing in making teapots. He became independent in 1978. He won the Asahi Togei prize, the Choza prize, the Itami Craft prize, and the Japan Tea Craft prize. He is one of the most prominent ceramic artists in Tokoname.
